2 ways for Nokia devs to get a nice new phone

Nokia has give details of two ways that developers can get a nice new smartphone from them.

The first, announced a few weeks back, is either a Nokia Lumia 800 or 710.  Nokia are giving 25,000 to developers, and while it isn’t clear which device you might get, it is clearer how you can get hold of one.  It comes down to belonging to one of Nokia’s developer programs – Nokia Launchpad.  Everyone who was a member of Nokia Launchpad, or was a Nokia Developer Champion on October 26th (the date the devices were announced at Nokia World) will be eligible to receive a device.

Full Details at Nokia Developer.

Nokia N9The second device is an N9.  Nokia have a competition for all developers to come up with a new icon for their app using the new icon templates.  It does have to be for a real app, and if your app isn’t published yet, you can provide screenshots and description along with your icon.  Apps can be for either Series40, MeeGo or Symbian, and should communicate the essence of your app.

Submissions must be your own, original work, based on Nokia’s templates, and emailed to Nokia developer between November 14 and November 30th. Winners will get one of “a number” of N9’s up for grabs, and their icon and app will be featured in the Nokia developer community, project and wiki front pages.

About bluechrism

I am a software developer with most professional experience in the Windows .Net realm and I'm currently a WPF developer with Starkey Labs. However, I have wanted for some time to start the mobile developer journey properly and being an N900 owner, this was to be in the realm of QT. Job hunting, moving to Minnesota and changing jobs put my plans on hold 6-12 months but things are starting to settle now, just as I'm getting sorted to start some things, Microsoft and Nokia merge. This blog is about my novice mobile development experiences and hopefully will end up complete with links to download some apps on various platforms, but obviously by the name, Sybian, Maemo/Meego and Windows Mobile. In other stuff, I am English, I support Everton FC, I have visited Glastonbury music festival 5 times and recommend it to anyone. I am married and my wife and i have a dog called Friday.
