Nokia and Microsoft announce a host of new developer tools and training opportunities for developers. In addition Nokia have said today they will give new Nokia Lumia 800 devices to 25000 developers. The news came during one of the sessions at Nokia world and also in a post at the Nokia Developer website:
Much of what was stated is about things we already know – encouragement to get Visual Studio (from here) and begin developing as developers now have a unique opportunity to get in early and be seen. The bigger bit of news is that Microsoft and Nokia will do several things to help developers get going and they include:
- The Nokia Roadshow
- Developer events (150 Nokia, 1000 Microsoft, both in person and online)
- University events
- Video content for all levels of experience (10 hours for beginner, 14 for intermediate level and 7 for advanced level developers)
- 25000 developers will get a Nokia Lumia 800
Lastly, Microsoft is ensuring there is a point of contact for developers in each country from which they accept app submissions to the marketplace.
For the Nokia Roadshow, which has already been to 6 cities, and I’m struggling to find a list of the other cities it will visit. For everything else, we will have to wait and find out, and I especially have no information on how you might get to be one of those 25000 who might get a Lumia 800. Maybe something will show up here, but for now, (thanks to WMPowerUser) you can get started with a Mango Jump Start Session right here.
