When I got home from work today, I was pleasantly surprised to find a delivery had arrived from @NokiaConnects – A shiny box with the words Lumia 920 on it.
Inside it had information about the camera, shell and glass used along with samples of those parts.
The shell, when away from all the other parts that make up the phone, is a little more flexible, but still feels strong. You can see the holes for the buttons in the side, as well as the speaker grills and micro USB at the base, and the SIM card and headphone jack at the top. There are two other holes in the shell and they are for the camera lens and flash.
Size wise it feels on the big side, for me anyway. I feel like it would be a stretch for my thumb to tap the top left corner and the bottom right without having to adjust my hand position to do so. You can get a feel for the size here, with my N9 inside it.
As for the other parts, its hard for me to say much. I can’t tell if the camera module has any particular interesting feature externally, compared with any others because I just don’t know what to look for. The card with it talks up the accuracy of the lens and low light performance.
There is a sheet of Gorilla Glass in there too. It’s not screen shaped or anything, just a square of glass. I don’t have anything to measure the thickness but looks to be around 0.5mm to me. Feels strong and sturdy as it should.
